It is given as an <strong>IP code<\/strong> , for example IP65. It is based on the standard <strong>DIN EN 60529<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">How to read the IP code<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>First digit (0\u20136):<\/strong> protection against solid foreign bodies and contact. From 2, no finger can reach dangerous parts; 5 means dust-protected, 6 dust-tight.<\/li><li><strong>Second digit (0\u20139):<\/strong> protection against water. 3 means protection against spray water such as rain, 5 against water jets, 6 against powerful water jets.<\/li><li><strong>X<\/strong> in one position means: the manufacturer makes no statement on this.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Which protection class where?<\/h2>\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li><strong>Indoors, protected in the profile:<\/strong> a low protection class is enough, e.g. IP20 for the concealed <a href=\"\/en\/product\/vs-cka-300\/\">VS-CKA 300<\/a><\/li><li><strong>Indoors, visible on the window:<\/strong> e.g. IP32 for the <a href=\"\/en\/product\/vs-ka\/\">VS-KA chain drive<\/a><\/li><li><strong>Damp rooms, halls, outdoors or roof:<\/strong> IP65 or higher, e.g. <a href=\"\/en\/product\/vs-la\/\">VS-LA linear actuator<\/a> and <a href=\"\/en\/product\/vs-za-800\/\">VS-ZA 800<\/a> (IP65) or <a href=\"\/en\/product\/vs-ka-2500\/\">VS-KA 2500<\/a> (IP66)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Protection class (IP) is not protection category<\/h2>\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">the <strong>Protection category<\/strong> (I, II, III), on the other hand, describes protection against electric shock. A 24 V actuator, for example, works with safety extra-low voltage.
