With SHEV rooflights, smoke extraction is also no longer guaranteed. In most cases the old actuator can be replaced with a current model without replacing the rooflight. This guide shows how to find the right replacement.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Zugelassene NRWG:<\/strong> Bei zugelassenen nat\u00fcrlichen Rauch- und W\u00e4rmeabzugsger\u00e4ten (NRWG nach EN 12101-2) kann ein Antriebstausch die Zulassung aufheben. Tausch nur nach R\u00fccksprache mit dem Fensterhersteller oder einem Sachkundigen.<\/p>\n<h2>Step 1: Identify the actuator type<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Spindle actuator:<\/strong> round or square cylinder with an extending spindle \u2013 typical for heavy SHEV rooflights.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Linear actuator:<\/strong> slim profile with push rod, often on roof windows and medium-sized rooflights.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Chain drive:<\/strong> flat housing from which a chain extends \u2013 on smaller rooflights and flaps.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Rack-and-pinion actuator:<\/strong> visible rack, for long strokes and high forces.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Step 2: Read the data from the type plate<\/h2>\n<p>For selection you need the voltage (24 V or 230 V), force in N, stroke in mm and \u2013 for SHEV \u2013 the running speed. If the type plate is no longer legible, the rooflight size, its weight and the measured opening travel help.<\/p>\n<p>Besides their own weight, rooflights are subject to snow and wind loads. Plan for new brackets or an adapter plate.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Control:<\/strong> The current consumption of the new actuator must match the existing control unit or SHEV control panel.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Opening time:<\/strong> SHEV rooflights must usually open fully within 60 seconds.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Occupational safety:<\/strong> only work on the roof with fall protection.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>If the rooflight is part of a smoke extraction system, coordinate the replacement with the installer or an expert.
