The common D+H chain actuators can usually be replaced with a Vent Systems VS-KA: KA 34 with the VS-KA 400 N, KA 54 with the VS-KA 600 N, CDC and VCD with the VS-KA 250 N or the concealed VS-CKA 300. Pick at least the same force and the same stroke – both are shown on the rating plate.

How do I find the right alternative to my D+H drive?
On D+H drives, the type designation including the stroke is shown on the type plate, e.g. KA 34/600 for the KA 34 series with a 600 mm stroke. Choose the VS-KA with the same or higher force and the same stroke. For very heavy roof window or skylight sashes, the VS-KA 2500 with 2500 N and IP66 offers additional reserves.
What to consider when replacing a drive
- Force: The new drive should have at least the force of the old drive. If in doubt, choose the next higher level.
- Stroke: Keep the stroke of the old drive. It is usually stated on the type plate.
- Voltage: Connect 24 V drives only to 24 V control units or SHEV control panels, and 230 V drives only to 230 V.
- Speed for SHEV: As a rule, SHEV windows must be fully open within 60 seconds. For long strokes, check whether the running speed is sufficient.
- Approved NSHEV: For approved natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilators (NSHEV to EN 12101-2), replacing the actuator may void the approval. Replace only after consulting the window manufacturer or an expert.
- Brackets and installation dimensions: The original manufacturers' brackets do not fit 1:1. Use Vent Systems brackets and check the installation dimensions using our data sheet (downloads on the product page).
- Control: Vent Systems drives are controlled conventionally via polarity reversal (±24 V) or 230 V. Manufacturer-specific bus or programming functions of the original drive are not available. Check whether the existing control unit can handle the current consumption.
Is there a replacement for the D+H KA 34?
Yes. At 400 N and 24 V, the VS-KA exceeds the 300 N of the KA 34 and is available with strokes of up to 1000 mm. The BSY+/PLP programming functions of the original are not available; the VS-KA is controlled conventionally via ±24 V.
