A Trigger device gives a smoke and heat exhaust system the signal to open. It reports a fire to the SHEV control panel, which then controls the window actuators.
Types
- automatic: smoke or heat detectors
- manual: SHEV push button (usually orange) in the stairwell or at exits
- external: signal from a fire alarm system
Difference from ventilation
Ventilation switches for daily ventilation are not trigger devices of an SHEV system. Vent Systems supplies ventilation controls and ventilation switches, but no SHEV control panels or SHEV push buttons.
