In brief: What matters for the replacement are thrust force, stroke, voltage (24 V or 230 V) and the mounting on the window. If these values match, the actuator can usually be replaced without modifying the window. All actuators are in stock in Hamburg.

How to check whether the replacement fits

• Photograph the type plate: manufacturer, type, voltage, thrust force and stroke are usually stated on it.
• Measure the stroke: how far the window opens, in millimetres.
• Check the voltage: 24 V (with control unit) or 230 V (directly on the switch).
• Look at the mounting: surface-mounted on the frame or concealed in the profile.
• SHEV systems: If the actuator is part of a smoke ventilation system, it is only replaced in agreement with the installer; the system is operated with an approved smoke control panel, which is not part of the Vent Systems product range.

Frequently asked questions

What information do I need for a replacement actuator?

Usually three values from the old actuator's rating plate are enough: thrust in newtons, stroke in millimetres and operating voltage (24 V or 230 V). Plus a photo of how it is mounted on the window.

Can I replace a 24 V actuator with a 230 V actuator?

Not without modifications. 24 V actuators run via a control unit or power supply, 230 V actuators directly from a switch. The easiest option is a replacement with the same voltage. If the voltage is to change, a qualified electrician must adapt the wiring.

Will the brackets of the old actuator fit?

Usually not, as every manufacturer uses its own brackets. Our chain, linear and rack-and-pinion actuators VS-KA, VS-LA and VS-ZA include a standard bracket set. Special brackets are available for special profiles.

Can I also use them to replace smoke ventilation (SHEV) actuators?

Our actuators are intended for daily ventilation and have no test certificate according to DIN EN 12101-2. If the old actuator is part of a smoke and heat exhaust system, the installer or specialist company decides on the replacement.

How quickly will the replacement actuator arrive?

Many actuators are in stock in our Hamburg warehouse. Stock items are shipped within Germany within 24 hours.

My manufacturer or type is missing from the table – what now?
