A Emergency hand crank is a connection at the head of a tubular motor that lets you move the blind or awning by hand without power. It is used mainly on awnings.
What do you need an emergency hand crank for?
Otherwise, an extended awning cannot be retracted during a power cut or a fault. In a storm, the fabric and the folding arms can then be damaged. With the crank, the awning can be retracted safely by hand.
How does the emergency hand crank work?
The motor has an eyelet or a hexagon at its head. A crank rod is hooked in there. A gearbox in the motor turns the shaft without the motor needing power.
Which motor has an emergency hand crank?
For example the A-OK AM45E awning motor with 30 to 50 Nm, with cable or radio control. More on choosing one in the guide awning motor.
