NRWG stands for natural smoke and heat exhaust ventilator. This means a component that removes smoke and heat by natural buoyancy in the event of fire, for example a window or rooflight including its actuator.
Tested as a unit
An NSHEV is tested as a complete unit: sash, frame, fittings and actuator together. The basis is the European standard DIN EN 12101-2. Only the tested combination may be sold as an NSHEV with CE marking. If a part is replaced, such as the actuator with a different model, the test no longer automatically applies to this combination.
NSHEV or SHEV – what is the difference?
- RWA is the entire system: triggering, control panel, actuators and opening areas.
- NRWG is the individual tested exhaust ventilator within this system.
What does this mean when replacing an actuator?
With an NSHEV, the replacement actuator must match the tested combination. Before replacing, clarify with the window manufacturer or installer which actuators are approved. This restriction does not apply to pure ventilation windows without SHEV function. Help with replacement: Replacing window drives.
