Zigbee and Matter are standards that let smart home devices talk to each other. Motors for roller shutters, roller blinds and curtains can be integrated into apps, voice assistants and automations this way.
What is Zigbee?
Zigbee is an energy-saving radio standard. The devices form a mesh in which mains-powered devices relay signals. Control usually requires a gateway (hub), for example from Amazon, Philips Hue or Home Assistant.
What is Matter?
Matter is a cross-manufacturer standard supported by Apple, Google, Amazon and Samsung, among others. A Matter device can be integrated into several smart home systems at the same time, without the manufacturer’s own app.
Which motors support Zigbee or Matter?
- A-OK AM25 battery roller blind motor – optionally with Zigbee, Matter or Bluetooth
- A-OK AM50 curtain motor – optionally with Zigbee or Wi-Fi
- A-OK AM45 battery-solar tubular motor – with radio 868 MHz, optional Zigbee
Do I need Zigbee or Matter?
A normal radio motor is enough for operation by hand transmitter. Zigbee or Matter are worthwhile if you want to automate roller shutters and curtains together with lighting, heating and sensors or control them by voice command.
