A Bracket is the mounting part used to fasten a window actuator to the window. There are usually two parts: a bracket on the fixed frame, on which the actuator sits, and a holder on the sash, where the chain or push rod engages.
Why the bracket is so important
The bracket transfers the full Thrust to the window. If it is positioned incorrectly or too weak, the actuator tilts, the chain runs at an angle or the fastening tears out. Many installation problems are caused by the bracket, not the actuator.
What to look out for
- Frame material: wood, PVC or aluminium need suitable fastening
- Space on the frame: distance between frame and sash, height of the rebate edge
- Opening direction: opening inwards or outwards, tilt or top-hung sash
- Force absorption: choose sturdy brackets for high forces and rooflights
Suitable brackets and fastening material can be found in the Accessories. If in doubt, a photo of the installation situation that you send us helps.
Practical example: Light dome with linear drive
In a light dome, the Linear actuator usually at the bottom of the mounting ring and swings with the opening of the frame. The brackets on the frame and dome must therefore be mounted rotatably; otherwise the spindle will become crooked. The appropriate bracket set is included with the VS-KA, VS-LA and VS-ZA models.
Common mistakes
- The screws are too short or unsuitable for the frame material
- Console not mounted parallel to the wing edge – the chain runs crooked and wears out faster
- In two drives on one wing, the consoles are not set at the same height
Tip: After assembly, run the drive completely up and down once. If the drive runs smoothly and without jerking, the console is installed correctly.
Frequently asked questions
Is the console included in the package?
For VS-KA, VS-LA and VS-ZA, yes, the console set is included. For special profiles or installation layouts, customized solutions are available upon request.
Can I continue to use the console from another manufacturer?
Most often not, because the drilling pattern and the drive’s output depend on it. Therefore, when replacing an old drive, the console is usually replaced as well.
