A window opener opens and closes a window without having to reach the handle. Mechanical window openers use a crank, linkage or cable pull. Electric window openers use a motor and are operated by switch, radio or a control unit.
Typical electric designs are chain actuators for tilt and top-hung windows, spindle actuators for skylight domes and roof windows, and rack-and-pinion actuators for heavy sashes.
