The Current consumption states how much current a window actuator draws while moving – for 24 V actuators in amperes (A). It determines how large the power supply or control must be and which cable cross-section is needed.
sizing the power supply correctly
- Add up the current consumption of all actuators moving at the same time
- add about 20–30 % reserve
- Example: 4 actuators × 1.0 A = 4.0 A, with reserve a power supply of approx. 5 A or more
Where is the value stated?
In the actuator data sheet, often as rated current. Some manufacturers also state the short-term starting current.
Frequently asked questions
Do 230 V actuators need a power supply?
No, they are connected directly to the mains. The current consumption is still important for fusing and switches.
What happens if the power supply is too small?
The actuators run slowly, jerk or stop, and the power supply may switch off. Always plan for reserve.
