VS-KA-i smart chain drive

Intended use

– Designed for opening and closing windows and ventilation louvres on building facades and roofs

– Operating voltage: 24 V DC (-15 %/+25 %)

– Suitable for smoke extraction and daily comfort ventilation

– Only for indoor installation

Requirements for qualification of personnel

All installation, wiring, commissioning and maintenance work on window drives may only be carried out by trained and qualified personnel. Untrained personnel are strictly prohibited from entering the work area.

Pre-installation and Device selection

– Operate the window opener to check it for any transport damage

– Make sure that the load capacity of the selected model corresponds to the actual window weight and wind pressure, and thus, all of the operating requirements

– Check the stability of the window frame and hinges to make sure they can withstand the operating loads

– Always use original mounting brackets and fasteners. For aluminium window frames, rivets or

through-bolts are recommended;

self-tapping screws should be avoided

Requirements for electrical safety

– The power supply of the window actuator must ensure a stable operating voltage of 24 V DC (-15 %/+25%).

Voltage fluctuations outside this range can cause the device to malfunction or

damage the control board

– Use cables of sufficient cross-section in accordance with the technical standard to minimise voltage drop.

Intended use

– The control unit should have an automatic shut-off function that is activated as soon as the chain drive reaches its fully

open position. This interrupts the power supply at the end of the stroke

– Always disconnect the main power supply before cleaning, maintenance or troubleshooting

Safety precautions for installation

– Windows installed at a height of less than 2.5 metres must have reliable anti-trap protection. In

public areas, an infrared safety sensor should also be installed. For floor-level windows, safety ropes

and fall protection are required

– All automatic window drives must carry a clearly visible “Risk of trapping” warning label in a prominent position

– Keep the operating area of the window free of obstacles. Manual controls must be installed so that the

movement of the window can be observed directly

Maintenance and cleaning

– All maintenance work must be carried out with the device completely switched off.

– Power cables and guide rails should be inspected routinely at least once a year. If any

abnormalities are found, stop using the device immediately. Repairs may only be carried out by AF-certified technicians

using original parts. Unauthorised disassembly is strictly prohibited.

– Use a soft, dry cloth to remove any dust or dirt from the surface. Do not use
