A Box-type window consists of two windows one behind the other: an inner and an outer sash in a common, box-shaped frame. The air space between them insulates against heat and noise. Box-type windows are typical of old buildings.
What needs to be considered when motorising?
- Usually only the inner sash is motorised.
- The actuator needs space between the inner and outer sash or on the inner frame – measure beforehand.
- The outer sash stays closed during ventilation or is opened by hand.
- The wood must be firm and dry, and the fittings must run smoothly.
Which actuator fits?
Where depth is limited, a flat VS-KA chain actuator from €65 net. Send us photos and dimensions, we will check the space. More on this under Opening windows in old buildings electrically.
