Listed buildings

Listed buildings protects buildings that are to be preserved because of their history or design. For a listed building, changes to its appearance often need a permit – this can include windows. The responsible body is usually the local monument protection authority of the city or district; the rules differ from state to state.

May I motorise a window in a listed building?

A small actuator on the inside of the frame usually does not change the view from outside. Nevertheless, you should agree the installation with the monument protection authority beforehand. Visible cables can often be avoided with a radio button.

Tips for the coordination

  • Enclose photos of the window and of the planned actuator
  • Describe the mounting position inside and the cable route
  • Note: the actuator can be removed again without damage (brackets are screwed on)
