Polarity reversal means that a DC actuator changes its direction of travel when plus and minus are swapped on its two connection cores. Many 24 V window actuators are controlled this way: one polarity opens, the other closes.
How it works
- Two-core connection: e.g. plus on core 1 = OPEN, plus on core 2 = CLOSE
- the control or a ventilation button reverses the polarity
- in the end positions the actuator switches off by itself (limit switch-off)
Important
Actuators that run together on one control must be connected identically. If one is reversed, it moves in the wrong direction. The core assignment is shown in the actuator wiring diagram.
Frequently asked questions
Does this also apply to 230 V actuators?
No. 230 V actuators usually have separate cores for OPEN and CLOSE and a common neutral conductor.
My actuator runs the wrong way – what can I do?
With polarity-reversal actuators, swap the two motor cores. Radio controls often have a setting to reverse the direction, on the VS-C24-7A for example via a button combination.
