A Temperature sensor measures the room or outdoor temperature. In window ventilation it is used to open automatically when overheating – for example in a conservatory, greenhouse or attic.
Typical applications
- Conservatory: open roof windows when it gets too warm
- Night cooling: ventilate at night when it is cooler outside than inside
- Commercial halls: open continuous rooflights or domes in hot weather
Interaction with other sensors
Temperature alone is not enough: rain and wind sensors must have priority so that windows close in bad weather. Whether and how a control evaluates sensors is stated in the control data sheet.
Frequently asked questions
Do I need an indoor and an outdoor sensor?
For night cooling, yes – the control compares both values. For simple overheating protection, an indoor sensor is enough.
Does this work with 230 V actuators?
Yes, if the control has suitable outputs. It is more often implemented with 24 V actuators and a ventilation control.
