How do I find the right alternative to my Aumüller drive?
Aumüller type designations are informative: for PLA and PLS, the number indicates the force class (e.g. PLA8 = 800 N). Choose the VS-LA with the same or higher force and the stroke of your previous drive. Aumüller spindle drives are available with strokes up to 1200 mm, the VS-LA up to 800 mm as standard – longer strokes on request.
What to consider when replacing a drive
- Force: The new drive should have at least the force of the old drive. If in doubt, choose the next higher level.
- Stroke: Keep the stroke of the old drive. It is usually stated on the type plate.
- Voltage: Connect 24 V drives only to 24 V control units or SHEV control panels, and 230 V drives only to 230 V.
- Speed for SHEV: As a rule, SHEV windows must be fully open within 60 seconds. For long strokes, check whether the running speed is sufficient.
- Brackets and installation dimensions: The original manufacturers' brackets do not fit 1:1. Use Vent Systems brackets and check the installation dimensions using our data sheet (downloads on the product page).
- Control: Before the replacement, check whether the existing control unit or SHEV control panel can handle the current consumption of the new drive.
Is there a replacement for the Aumüller PLA8?
Yes, the VS-LA with 800 N, 24 V and IP65 protection matches the PLA8 in force and voltage. Select the stroke according to the type plate; mount it with Vent Systems brackets.
Does the replacement drive work with my Aumüller SHEV control panel?
Vent Systems drives operate at 24 V DC with polarity reversal, like most SHEV drives. Before the replacement, check whether the control panel can handle the current consumption, and coordinate SHEV applications with the installer.
