How do I find the right alternative to my GEZE drive?
Read the type, force and stroke from the type plate and choose the matching row in the table. For spindle drives such as the E 250 NT or E 1500, the VS-LA linear drive is suitable; for Chain drives such as Slimchain or Powerchain, the VS-KA chain drive. For very heavy roof windows or skylights outdoors, the VS-KA 2500 with IP66 protection offers additional reserves.
What to consider when replacing a drive
- Force: The new drive should have at least the force of the old drive. If in doubt, choose the next higher level.
- Stroke: Keep the stroke of the old drive. It is usually stated on the type plate.
- Voltage: Connect 24 V drives only to 24 V control units or SHEV control panels, and 230 V drives only to 230 V.
- Speed for SHEV: As a rule, SHEV windows must be fully open within 60 seconds. For long strokes, check whether the running speed is sufficient.
- Zugelassene NRWG: Bei zugelassenen natürlichen Rauch- und Wärmeabzugsgeräten (NRWG nach EN 12101-2) kann ein Antriebstausch die Zulassung aufheben. Tausch nur nach Rücksprache mit dem Fensterhersteller oder einem Sachkundigen.
- Brackets and installation dimensions: The original manufacturers' brackets do not fit 1:1. Use Vent Systems brackets and check the installation dimensions using our data sheet (downloads on the product page).
- Control: Before the replacement, check whether the existing control unit or SHEV control panel can handle the current consumption of the new drive.
Can I replace a GEZE E 250 NT with a VS-LA?
Yes, if voltage (24 V), force and stroke match. At 800 N, the VS-LA exceeds the 750 N of the E 250 NT and also has IP65 protection. It is mounted with Vent Systems brackets.
Is the VS-LA also suitable for SHEV windows?
Yes, the VS-LA is designed for ventilation and smoke extraction. For SHEV, the combination of window, drive and approved SHEV control panel must be verified for each project. With fast original drives such as the E 1500 S, note the opening time of 60 seconds.
