A roller blind motor is a slim tubular motor in the roller tube of an interior blind; a curtain motor opens and closes curtains along a track. Both are available battery-powered without cables or for 230 V. Vent Systems supplies A-OK roller blind and curtain motors for offices, hotels, practices and homes – for interior decorators, contract furnishers and electrical contractors.
In brief: For roller blinds, tube diameter, blind size and power supply (battery or 230 V) decide. For curtains, curtain weight and track length decide. With these details you receive a quote with the right motor and accessories.
Which motor fits?
| Your situation | Suitable solution |

A-OK roller blind motors at a glance
| Motor | Supply | Torque | Features |
|---|---|---|---|
| AM15 | 800 mAh battery, 5 V USB-C | 0.3 Nm | for small blinds and insect screens, 433 MHz radio |
| AM22 | 2600 mAh battery, 5 V USB-C | 0.5 Nm | 433 MHz radio, optionally Bluetooth, Zigbee or Matter |
| AM28 | 3000 mAh battery, 5 V USB-C | 1.5 to 1.8 Nm | 433 MHz radio, optionally Bluetooth, Zigbee or Matter |
| AM35 battery | 3000 mAh battery, 5 V USB-C | 6 or 10 Nm | 433 MHz radio, optionally Zigbee, solar panel possible |
| AM45 battery | 5200 mAh battery, 12 V DC, solar panel | 10 Nm | very quiet, according to A-OK about 6 months of operation at 1 cycle per day |
| AM35 230 V | 100–240 V AC | 6 or 10 Nm | electronic limits, radio, optionally Wi-Fi or Zigbee, RS485 and dry contact |
| AM45 quiet | 230 V AC | 3 to 13 Nm | mechanical limits, wired or radio, for large blinds and screens |
The electronic models store the upper and lower end positions plus up to 4 intermediate positions, start and stop softly and warn when the battery is low. For existing chain-operated blinds there is also a chain drive motor (AM43). All data: A-OK catalogue 2026 interior (PDF).
Curtain motors: how heavy can the curtain be?
Load capacity depends on torque, track length and track shape. Values from A-OK's load table for a straight track with a two-panel curtain:
| Actuator | 4 m track | 8 m track |
|---|---|---|
| 1 motor, 1.2 Nm | 48 kg | 44 kg |
| 1 motor, 1.5 Nm | 60 kg | 55 kg |
| 1 motor, 2 Nm | 90 kg | 82.5 kg |
| 2 motors, 2 Nm, 12 m track | 135 kg | |
With bends and single-panel curtains the load capacity drops considerably, by about a quarter for a 90° bend. Curtain weight = fabric weight per m² × area × fullness factor. The curtain motors run on 100–240 V or battery, travel at 12 to 14 cm/s, stop at obstacles, start with a gentle pull on the curtain (touch-to-go) and learn their end positions automatically. Control via 433 MHz radio, app, voice control, push button, dry contact or RS485.
What we need to make a selection
- Roller blind: width, height, fabric type and tube diameter
- Curtain: track length, track shape (straight, curved) and fabric weight
- Power supply: battery, solar or 230 V
- Control: handheld transmitter, wall switch, app or building control
- Number of windows in the building
Safety and connection
Battery motors need no electrical installation and are ideal for retrofitting. 230 V motors are connected by a qualified electrician. For blinds with chains or cords in rooms used by children, a motor also improves safety because no operating cord hangs loose.
Frequently asked questions
How long does a roller blind motor battery last?
It depends on blind size and use. For the AM45 with 5200 mAh, A-OK states about 6 months at one up and down per day. The smaller battery motors are charged via USB-C, and the blind signals a low battery.
Can I motorise an existing roller blind?
Usually yes. The tubular motor replaces the chain mechanism in the tube. For chain blinds where the tube should not be replaced, there is a chain drive motor that drives the existing chain.
Can the motors be integrated into a smart home?
Yes, depending on the model via 433 MHz radio, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, Zigbee or Matter, partly via an A-OK hub. Some 230 V models also have RS485 or dry contact for building control.
How much does a roller blind or curtain motor cost?
With us, a battery roller blind motor costs from €99 net (€118 incl. VAT), a curtain motor from €235 net. For screens and small roller blinds with a 40 mm shaft, the AM35 from €69 net is also suitable. The price depends on motor, power supply and control (radio, Zigbee, Matter, Wi-Fi).
| Motor | Version | net | incl. 19% VAT |
|---|---|---|---|
| A-OK AM25 battery roller blind motor | 1/1.8 Nm, battery, radio, optional Zigbee/Matter/Bluetooth | 99–120 € | 118–143 € |
| A-OK AM50 curtain motor | 1.2 Nm, radio, optional Zigbee/Wi-Fi | 235–245 € | 280–292 € |
| A-OK AM35 tubular motor | 35 mm, 6/10 Nm, for screens and roller blinds | 69–112 € | 82–133 € |
